I have bought a UK [non import] NC30 with tyres that are about 10 yrs old. Bridgestone tyres

The bike handles superbly, the tyres look good no sign of perish or wear.

I am however concerned that they might 'break away' when fully committed and cranked over.

they have definitely only done about 500 miles. Would I notice a vast improvement with new boots?

Forget about the handling, it's grip that you need.

100% yes. Tyres have a shelf life and 10 year old tyres is simply asking for trouble. Get some new shows and go and enjoy yourself.

Ditch them,

They go hard after time.

You'll notice theres a DOT code on the tyres, this tells you when they were made, for anything after the year 2000 there four digits long.

so 1305 would mean the tyre was made in the 13th week of 2005.

Tyres over 6 years old should be replaced.

Dunlop Alpha GPR10 and Bridgestone BT090 are both excellent tyres, the stickiest you'll get in an 18" wheel size.
