Gearing, rear wheel set up

Preparing the RVF for the track and I've been searching for couple days for a good gear combination. The local track is very small and technical, top speed will probably be no more than 150km. most of my track time is going to be there.

The RVF has a very high 1st gear and it's sluggish out of the turn, base on my search I think this will work fine:

A short as I can 520 chain to bring the rear wheel forward,
-1 front +3 rear, top speed around 175km

For bigger tracks, is it possible to keep the same chain, switch the rear sprocket from 41 to a 38?

What do you guys think?

On my GSXR 600 I have the rear tire all the way to the front (short chain), allowing me to flip the bike easier…

On my GSXR 1000 the rear tire was all the way back (long chain), for better traction…

What do you guys recommend for the RVF, rear wheel forward?

Yeah I guess rear wheel furthest forward would be best for tight twisty tracks.

Changing to the 38 sprocket will move the wheel to the back if you use the same chain (same chain will fit fine for length).

You sure you have a 35 gearbox in there and not a 30? The 35 1st gear is pretty short compared to the 30's very long 1st gear.
On very short tracks I run 14/42 or43 on my rvf

Not sure, how can I check?

If you run standard sprockets, and you get to nearly 60mph in first you probably have a 30 gearbox. i dont have a speedo on my bike but i think the 35 does about 40mph.
