i have a question about the insurance of a CBR400 NC29.
when im 17 im looking to get one, but with a full TYGA kit on, im wandering if any other 17 year olds have a bike similar to what i would like, and how much they pay for insurance.
thanks in advance

not sure bout the 29 but i have a nc23 and im 23 and it costs me £100 a year
best thing to do will be do some quotes online and see what comes up, i think most people with nc29's will be older than 17 tbh mate. it all depends were you live aswell and what your area is like for theft, and you will have to declare that the bike is modified otherwise if you do have a crash then you wont get paid out, minor mods dont have to declare but something like complete different fairings you would, which will put the insurance up more.

I reckon buying the fairings and fitting them will cost you far more than you'll ever get out of them both in the insurance and the fact that you will probably flog the bike asap you can and get something faster..
Get a cheap nc29, get the suspension working and the tyres sorted and learn to ride it.... It will then not cost you £600+ for some bodywork and another £600 extra insuarnce..
£1200 saved is another bike...or lots of trackdays at Rockingham, Mallory etc - as you can ride them on a 33bhp licence and all sorted..

yeah, i done a quote, mods included (because im a good boy like that) i got £1.6k
which is pretty high imo.
i only want a CBR with the kit because i highly dislike the shape of it stock.
i also wanted a ninja 250r but to expensive to buy.

you see the only problem with having a nc29 at the age of 17 is insurance groups will just see you as a youth thats going to tear ar*e it every were and have an accident in the first few months or even few weeks, so they will make the insurance sky high to try get you onto a smaller bike, they dont care how good a rider you are, all they see is your age, even if it was valentino rossi and he was 17 it would be the same for him.
Thats the beauty of being a bit older, cheap insurance :D. if i was you i would get a smaller bike to start off with if you cant afford the massive insurance policy and ride that for a year or 2 build up some no claims, then get the bike you really want and by that time you will be off your restricted license and have 2 years no claims to go towards your insurance so it will drop considerably depending on what bike you choose.

Why are you getting it then? Have you been offered a cheap deal?
Mate of mine is selling an FZR400 3TJ for a grand....might even deliver it..lol
They are lovely looking bikes.
I reckon you will be paying more han you want to pay whatever you declare on the mods...so get something cheap and easily repairable. I see youhave an RS50 - good, but whatever your pulling of schoolgirls says, it is a geared moped. You should get cheapness first, cheap running, cheap insurance and so on. At your age you'll get your end away regardless of what you ride..lol
All bikes will crap on your corsa driving mates too....so don't worry about that!

Quality and straight to the point Mark
You are as has been said going to get ripped off with the insurance on any bike i'm afraid at your age but if you can afford it somehow then go for it

how old is your friend? how long has he been riding? and i would think you also find from an insurance point of view it is less likely to be nicked in wales than in brum.
at 17 i had an rs125 on L plates and that cost £700 fully comp and that was the cheapest i could get. The sad fact is as you get older, it gets cheaper as long as you dont get caught doing something silly.

if you think £1.6k is expensive, take a look at the below....this is genuine, i did a quote for my wife a few months back on a vfr 400 and even had emails come through showing me the monthly premium!
