What is the difference between the NC30 and NC24 engine?
My NC24 Engine needs and complete rebuild (ill be doing it as im compotent to do this) but i cannot find any head gaskets for this, let alone rocker, sump, stem seals)
I know the NC24 frame is different to the NC30's so i guess the mounts are going to be different, But if they were same engine internally, it might save me a heck of alot of work trying to find a suitable replacement engine (which i cant afford)
Regards
Richard

Different crank & cams for sure. The 24 is a 180 crank (like the RC30 iirc), the '30 is a 360 crank.
Less importantly, the '24 uses tappets where the '30 uses shims for valve clearance but that's not such a big deal.
Others will chime in with any other differences, and there are many parts that probably will work, but you'll want to have the original parts there to compare with to be sure. Gaskets and seals may well be the same.

Okay thank you for the fast answer.
I have put in an offer on a 2nd hand 14000km NC24 engine on ebay as i can get the seal kit for a NC30 for £100 and an engine for £300 or my offer possibly of £150 so would be better and then just strip this engine down in my own time and repair it and sell it on or tune it up.

Erm.
What do you want to do here...
You can put either engine in either frame.
The Japanese NC30 engine doesn't have an oil-cooler.
The firing order is different between them, 180 vs 360, so if swapping engines you'll need the loom and Ignition box too, as well as the coils. (NC30 uses 2 coils as opposed to 4 of the 24)
Speedos driven off the wheel of the 24, front sprocket of the 30.
Sumps are the same (so is the gasket), so is the genny cover and clutch cover.
You can use the NC30 head-gasket with minor modification.
Biggest problen with NC30 engine in NC24 frame would be the NC30 exhaust system wouldn't fit on a 24.. you could use the 24 exhaust system but I don't know how well it'd work with the engine (never tried it)
Complete rebuilds can be pricey, cheap engines come up all the while... Ngeer on here has a 24 engine for sale I believe.
I got a running block for the pricey sum of £20.00 from ebay :D postage was twice the cost of the engine.
