Is there someone out there that can help me? I have an NC30. If I ride her on a motorway journey she is great, I can pull over, turn the engine off, and then start her again no problem. If I am on a town journey, stop start, the revs start to die off and she cuts out (normally at traffic lights) and then there is nothing on the starter. I can either bump start her, or, I let her cool down for 20 mins and she starts again straight away. I have replaced the reg/rec and the battery. This is driving me insane!!!!

When you say nothing on the starter, does it turn over, just click or nothing at all?

I'm getting a click as if the starter is trying to throw, sometimes there is nothing at all. I can bump start her, or leave her to cool down and she is fine

Cutting out when rolling to a stop is a classic sign of running rich.

First off though.

You replaced the reg/rec and the battery... have you done a full test of the electrical system? It's not hard at all, all you need is a cheap £10 multimeter and folow the step-by step guide.

Once you eliminate the charging system it's time to look at fuelling.

Air filter / Plugs new / Airbox standard?

If so i'd go with the rich symptoms.. how does the exhaust look.. is it sooty at all? Cranking the pilot screws in 1/2 a turn might help with this :-)

Judging by the fact it's dying, it sounds like it's not charigng properly at low RPM and your batteries dying.. could be genny / battery / reg-rec issues. Charing system is the 1st place to start :-)

Do you have a multimeter? If so I can give you step by step guides on how to test everything

rectifier, turn the lights off and see if that gets you a bit longer.
battery will be scrap too.
check the gene output too

mine did this when I first got it - replaced reg/rec and generator (and toasted battery). sorted.

have got the tools to remove/refit the generator if you wanted help / someone to do it for you.

Thanks everyone for your help. Went to ride the bike to the pub last night (where she lives) and there was nothing on the battery. So, bumped her, got her there, we are gonna clean up the starter motor, then go through the whole charging system.
