i hope there is a simmple fix for wot ever i have done .....

My bike has been running really well , i decided to change the dial faces this wkend i have just taken out for a test ride and she is running like crap .

Shes only reving to 6000 then feels really laboured ...

Speedo is not reading correctly (at a guess its reading 20 instead of about forty) will check tomorrow with satnav....

Temp gauge is not moving ( when i first put temp gauge back on and turned ignition on it went up to warm so i striped it down again took top of so i could access the needle then reset with temp gauge while it was connected i.e put it to cold when i turn on the ignition) now its not working at all ..

revcounter seems fine

cheers in advance Dan

Yeah you've disconnected the plug that comes out of the back of the speedo into the wiring loom.

This plug has to be connected else the bike wont rev over 5500rpm.

The temp gauge sounds like a bad earth (will go straight to hot if the earth isn't connected)

The speedo reading wrong sounds like you've mis-algined the needle, can be very difficult to re-aling accuratly.

yep, I had similar issues when I replaced my dials,
for the speedo issue make sure you have reconnected everything correctly, getting the needle to line up in the same place=correct speed is sort of tricky, I removed the 'resting pin' on the front before removing the needle to ensure it was pointing in the same direction before I removed it.

The temperature sensor is easier to resolve, connect the gauge to the bike when the engine is cold and switch the battery on, by removing the leads from the back one at a time the needle will reset to the left.

If its not the clocks then either fuse has blown or the pink wire from the cdi has a bad connection, its needs to be +12v.
Very common problem this, been covered many many times on the forum

reving prob sorted not sure wot i did but its sorted but speedo not working at all now

I think i have killed it lol , well i can sort of blame others for that because before i took needle off i had a scan of www (not here) and the recommended way was :- wind the needle round clock wise till it stops then a little more applying some lift and the needle comes off..... since then i have had clock out of casing and noticed the little spring underneath , wots confusing is i can wind needle up so it returns to zero and unwind so it does not either way does not make any difference to it working ....

just to follow on :-

Still no joy with speedo i can get the trip/mileage counter moving but thats as far as it goes .....

i did figure out why it went into limp mode so i thought i would mention for any1 that has this prob in the future when i put needle back on (in the wrong position obviously  )(i have not derestricted bike yet , still has the little plate under speedo needle :o ) the plate was very close to sensors so after reaching 20 mph that the clock was showing because of above the plate was at the sensor so fooling the bike in thinking i was doin the 180k .

Now the nasty 1 TEMP gauge is driving me bloody mad i cant get it working since changing the face i have tried mr fen suggestions removing 1 wire at a time from the rear to reset but still no joy , i have tried running bike (only in idol) to get it warm to check but seems to get bloody hot and fan not coming ...

am now thinking that i have royaly screwed up for wanting to make it look better (hows it go if it aint broken dont try and fix it )

Am i now looking at getting another set ok clocks ?
Am i missing something ?
i dont mind going without speedo for a little (road bike) while but need temp gauge
Does temp gauge control the time the fan goes on and off

sorry for all the questions

Dan
