Hi all newbie here, I recently bought a VFR400 NC30 L reg, UK spec one.

I've started my strip down and tidy up of her and upon removing the fairings I've noticed oil around the foremost rocker cover gasket, I't doesn't drip and some is caked on so maybe been like it a while.

My technical knowledge is pretty limited I hasten to add, my question is this; what could be causing this? I understand that there could be numerous different things but if anyone could shed any light twood be great.

Yep check the gasket most likely case not a big job really.. If you are just starting out on your bike fiddling advertures do ya self a faver and purchase some half decent tools Halfrauds professional 150 kit etc only reason to go there to be honest, but will save a lot of headaches in the coming months, years, lifetime

Yes I could do with a few more tools, managed to sheer the knuckle on my socket wrench which is pain so I'll be needing a new one of those.

Thanks for the reply's, should be getting the forks chromed next week as they are slightly pitted, apart form that I'll attempt to tackle other problems myself. I'll post a picture when I get a chance as the bike currently sits in the house
