Question about limp home mode + resistor mod

Can anyone shed any light as to which 2 pots the engine should be firing on if the bike is in limp home mode ? After loads of searching about my bike running rough i found an old thread on the limp home mode. My bike is running on the rear 2. The neutral light isn't lighting up but i haven't checked the bulb yet and i can't find a resistor mod. Can anybody tell me where i can find it if it's fitted ?
Thanks Ian

The resistor will either sit behind the clocks or near the CDI box.
I think it sound like that, but always rule out all possibilities, so:
- try switching the coils over, front coils on rear cylinders and vice versa
- check resistance in ignition pickup coil(s)
- check to see if there has been tampered with the speedo
- check, clutch/sidestand/neutral-switch and the three way diode
all of this can be checked by having a multimeter and a haynes or honda manual.
- Try changing sparkplugs, they are usually very sensitive
so if you are skint and have lots of time do the checks first, and if you want to rule out all causes (electrical), then change the plugs first, then do the checks if the plugs don't cure it

Cheers Ronni
Swapped the coils over and it was exactly the same.Checked the diode, side stand switch, neutral switch and all ok. Thought i'd check every earth and wiring connector while i was at it and clean and lube them while i was at it. I did the left hand side first working from rear to front, then switched to the right hand side working front to rear. Theres a big bunch of connectors just above the right crankcase, and it was here i found the problem. The very bottom connector with 2 wires in it was full of muck but it wasn't connected properly. I cleaned and lubed the joint, put it back together and it fired up on 4 pots. Sweeeeet
