I recently went along to see a project bike nearby. Unfortunately the bike has been totally stripped down bare, including the forks, wheels and subframes. On the plus side though many of the stripped parts have now been powder coated and is on of the key reasons why i'm thinking about the project. The carbs and engine look good in so far as I can tell from close inspection. No snapped lugs etc. The other big plus point is that it comes with a collector box, downpipes, linkpipe and endcan in reasonable condition too. 2 sets of clocks too. (I like the look of the NC30 clocks better though, does anyone know if you can fit them to the NC24?) 2 sets of front brake discs, one of the sets look pretty much new.

The thing that I'm concerned about is the lack of a manual specifically for the NC24. I've downloaded a vfr400r service manual and parts manual but was wondering how close are these to an NC24?

Also, I've heard NC24 fuel tanks are hard to come by, is it possible to fit an NC30 one?

Myself and my father are quite keen to take this on, but are a little daunted by the fact that everything is in boxes and bits. Any advice about approaching a project of this sort would be greatly appreciated...:)

I got a really good deal, and think this will end up becoming a great wee bike :)

I'm now on the lookout for a haynes manual, or any websites with hints and tips etc. Hopefully in a few months I'll have a rideable NC24.

If you need to redo the cam timing i have a thread here somewhere where i wrote down the correct way to do it.

Ive just stripped and rebuilt a fair bit of mine so its fairly fresh in my mind at the moment, the info can be hard to find tbh as its not a UK bike. Dont expect any help from Honda UK.

Haynes didn't write a manual for the NC24.

There are some specifications in the back of the NC30 manual (but some of them are wrong, especially carb information)

I suppose you could get the NC30 clocks to fit, it won't be straightforward though.

Pretty much nothing from the NC30 fits to the NC24.

You can fit everything off the NC21 to the NC24 though and vice-versa :)

As for the clocks, I really like the aircraft style look of the NC30 ones but it will be some time before i get to that stage. I've got a working set of NC24's so will stick with that for now.

I've got a service manual and parts manual but i think they're for NC30's. I'm currently looking for the haynes one just in case it can help a little bit.

I'll keep everyone updated with how the project i s going as it develops.

sorry I should have been clearer. I realise there's no haynes manual specifically for the NC24, but I'm going to get the one for the NC30, 35. I know they're not that similar, but i hope it might help a little bit. If anyone knows how useful the NC30 haynes is for working on the NC24 e.g where they are similar and where they are chalk and cheese would be good. I already know that the brakes and fairings are very different.

It depends on what information you need from it.

There both NC13E engines but the NC30 engine fires 360 degress as opposed to the 180 degrees of the NC24 which means that have different coils, ignition boxes, cams, cam alignment (timing) is different.

Forks / brakes are different too.

Your best off downloading the NC24 specs from the haynes manual (I can point you in the right direction) and then downloading the NC30 service manual (also available) and working from there.

I have a manual for the NC21/24 also a parts book.They are in Japanese but there are lots of exploded diagrams

What revision is your parts book? It'll say on the front via a big number.. I have 1 thru 7 apart from 5. I'd like to get hold of a 5 for 'collectors' sake.
