well took the carbs etc off & all the plugs out, spins over nice & quiet till I put a compression tester on number 2 cylinder then I get a knocking sound, doesnt really happen to any other cylinders, does that seem like big end bearing ?

I though they ran in shells

poss new shells then? I,ve a good bottom end on a spare engine I might swap over, nowt ever straight forward for me is there lol.

the bottom end doesnt come off that easy its a full re-build you will have to do,as the shells wont be correct for the crank,you have to do a full strip down to replace the shells,on a race bike you leave the 2 bolts out which are under number 2+3 pistons ,so you can take the bottom end off with out taking the head & pistons out ! (giving away all my secrets )

Sorry to sound like a vulture but if the engine's a write off and you want to move the whole rolling chassis on, I'll have it :) I want a 3TJ to try the TRX engine in
