NC30 Fork Springs

Hi chaps,

Just got round to rebuilding the forks on my project bike and whilst taking out the springs I noticed some markings on them that I hadn't noticed on many other NC30 forks I have worked on in the past.

Do standard Honda springs have any markings? The bike had some Maxton stickers on it when I originally bought it, maybe they are not standard.

The markings are 'WUU' (unless their upside down then it's nnM!)

Any help appreciated.

Ta.

Gaz.

Its probably their spring rate x Nm (newton metres) ?

I've seen fork springs advertised in n/mm

something to do with compression force :)

I don't think NC30 springs having any markings on them at all? Don't a have a spare pair to check though.

BTW - anyone noticed the not-so-obvious in the photo....

Still looking for an answer re the markings, Maxton haven't bothered to reply as yet.

Oh and looking at the markings closer, I reckon they say 'W00' not 'WUU' - it's not easy to print on a curve I suppose.

The marking ring a bell but im not sure which, lol.

If they are working fine just put them back in mate.

I'm gonna stick them back in with a reduced air gap and see how we go, would have been nice to have some info on them though.

With regards to my earlier post about spotting the not-so-obvious, they had been fitted upside down and the spring seats not fitted correctly (2 on top of spring and none at the bottom)

Standard nc30 springs are progressive (tighter coiled springs towards the bottom), not many people would upgrade to progressive springs (although you can) so that is a good way to tell if they're aftermarket.

Judging from that brief pic they look like aftermarket springs to me.
