Evening,

Had an off on the weekend, and the frontend took the brunt of a tree which has mashed things up a tad. Started stripping the front end down to start repairs and run across a couple of issues;

1. Can I remove the top yoke with the forks and wheel in situ?
2. The right hand clip on is bent. I have a replacement but the bar end screw has rounded off. Does anyone know the size before I drill the old one out?
3. Throttle cables. The throttle is quite sticky at the moment, I'm putting this down to the bent clip on. Is it possible to replace the clip on and throttle assembly without removing the cables at the carb end?
4. The key operates the ignition fine, but can be withdrawn even when the ignition is on. Obviously some retaining part is broken. Any ideas what to look for?
5. Anything I should look for considering the impact? Forks, wheel, and the part of the frame where they connect look okay to me?

Actually, thats more than a couple! Any help would be great as it'll help me and the bike get on the road sooner!

Unlucky! Never fun to go for a slide, Especially into a tree! Sounds like you are ok though so thats good.

1. Yes that is no problem. Although you wont take it far unless you get under the tank and disconnect the ignition plug or unscrew the ignition unit, which trust me, is a bitch!

2. The size of what?

3. If it wasnt sticky before this is probably the problem, mine is quite sensitive to the angle its at. Just undo the two bolts on the throttle housing and (i think) with the bar off (your gunna have to do it anyway by the sounds of it) and there should be now enough cable to not have to touch the carbs.

4. No idea sorry.

5. i would check to make sure the front wheel sits true and that there is no damage to any brake components from the nature of the crash.

Yes. The ignition switch is held on by some torx (security) bolts, undo these and it will come apart easily.

A T35H Torx bit I believe.

Thanks guys, in regards to 2. I should have said the size of the screw. It rounded off and I need to drill it out and replace it.

Those screws are very soft. Any chance you can get an impact driver onto it - or is it totally knackered?

no sure on the size but why no just undo the other side to see?

they work great are a kilo lighter than the stock ones good value for money and iv race (and crash) proven them and they hold up well. got them on my road and race bikes.

Sadly it was the impact driver that rounded it off! It may have taken a bit of a bash.

The other screw is a bit chewed up, but I'll try to use that as a comparison, and will look at those bars!

At work just now, but can get you part numbers for your bolts when I get to my laptop. Easier to get them ordered that way

That would be really useful, thanks. Bike will be off the road for at least two weeks as I have decided to have all of the fairings resprayed as well as the new items.
