Sounds cool.
How warm was the bike and does it make any difference if it gets hotter?
It sounds a bit like mine..and I reckon mine is too rich. Hates to idle when cold

and loves a healthy 2k idle when warm.

A sure sign of carbs needing balancing is an uneven idle if everything else is ok.

Your idle mixture may be out, this is adjusted with the pilot screw on each carb. If bike starts cold without choke its prob running rich at idle and may need a 1/2 or 1/4 turn out of the screws. Standard setting from factory is 2 turns out. Check you plugs to get an idea, let the bike idle for a good while and check colour, if dark black then its rich & this may be causing the uneven idle

Although mine does run rich, and i have turned out pilot screws (though not tested it yet coz its only got one caliper on the front) balancing them was pretty easy using a bit of paper as opposed to the small drill bit. Made my tick over much smoother, and the power seems smoother when i roll on the throttle :D

I bought a carbtune and an angled screwdriver to do mine.
