is it the rear light or the brake light that is on? can you additionally get the brake light to light with using the brake? If not, try adjusting the rear brake light switch.

There should be no side light on the SF. The bike is designed for the headlight to be on all the time with the addition of full beam and a 'pass' flash for full beam. The ignition switch will turn off the lights off when the bike is started. It sounds like there has been a simple switch added to turn off the headlight only. Check next time you start the bike does the tail light go off?? Then turn the bike off and turn the headlight on and restart the bike, does the headlight and tail light turn off??

Yep, exactly that, someone has added a switch to your bike as the SF dosen't have one and the headlight stays on all the time. You will need to check the wiring, I imagine that whoever fitted the switch only wired in the headlight and didn't bother with the rear lights!

I have a friend who does that to all of his bikes. For some reason that I don't understand he doesn't like riding with his headlight on.
