Race Tech Fork Emulators, and Linear Springs - any good?


sorry all, newbie questions!


For my NC29 CBR400rrn - I had the front forks serviced.
* All in working order, nothing worn
* The Springs were progressive.
* Damper Rods only. Preload only. No Rebound or Compression Damping


What would the ride be like? - If I have Race Tech Fork Emulators, and Linear Springs to my weight? Would the Linear springs not soak up bumps as well for everyday riding?


What are the Performace improvements?

To answer one of your questions...

Linear springs provide the same spring rate (amount of force to move a given distance) and response regardless of where they are in their travel. So they are more predictable and controllable.

Progressive springs are exactly that, progressive. The more they compress the more the higher the spring rate gets. This is exacerbated by adding preload. You can never really guess, except be feel when riding, where you are in the spring rate.

It makes linear ones easier to set up, more predictable when riding, and BETTER.

Gold valves will give you compression adjustment of almost infinite range.

When set up correctly for your weight and style of riding, and I'm sure GF has some good instructions on this, you will find the front end feel 1000% betterer, more predictable, more tuneable, and more responsive. Best $$$ mod you can make to your bike.

This is my opinion in laymans terms. There is more to it I know, but not worth putting more here, it would only woosh over everyones heads including mine.

yerh his spot on with that, i would say you will need a better shock after doing the forks because it will show up the back i have gf cbr6 with ohlins sping its sssssssssssssgood

I'll ride the bike for a bit this year, and then think about all the suspension mods during the summer. That way I'll be able to have a "before" and "after" view on the improvements!

Trust me. You only need the after. Before is nothing more than mediocre.
