Just been getting down and dirty with Cams re jetting guide for the NC30 but am not sure about a couple of things and could do with a bit of info

Its a 92 NC30 and the Carb ID number is E30 B GD7

Ive found that it has 115 mains in the rear and 112 in the front so I'm going to go with 118/120's as recommended. Emulsion tubes and pilots are all correct and in right carbs.

Problem area - The needles are thetraditional type with 5 grooves and a circlip that is set at the middle groove. There is a .5mm washer that sits on the top of the needle. No markings on the needles at all

According to every guide that I've looked at the needles have a fixed shim at the top and the washers sit underneath. The picture below shows the middle needle like mine, compared to what it should be on the left and right sides



Has anyone any ideas?

Mine had a washer then the e clip and then above that a fixed shim - different bike though..

I wouldnt have thought it would matter if you didn't have one?

Maybe put another washer above the e clip and then screw the holders in place?

might be aftermarket needles or ones from a different bike. could be worth comparing to stock one if possible

Ive just edited the original thread and adde a pic. The centre need is what I have in and every thread that ive seen shows it as one of the other two needles. I took the pic From Mike Akhara's pages

I think you'd need to compare their performance back to back with standard needles to know if they're better or worse. IMO it's more likely that they will perform a little better than standard needles.

If you're going to use the adjustable needles it might be best to set them to the length of standard needles to start with (43.5mm according to Mike's measurements).

This is now going way beyond me, so I think its time to get some standard needles and re jet and start from there.

I used your guide and it made the job so simple and only took a couple of hours. One strange thing that I did come across was that the drain screws were on the inside of the carbs not the outside! Might just be a case of swapping float bowls with the opposite side

My drain screws were on the inside too. I just left them for fear of possible leaks if the gaskets had bedded in.

Rick O has just sent me out a set of needles, dynojet mains and some gaskets that I needed anyway

Got to the bottom of it, it has a set of American 'Factory' needles and jets in there. I read that they create all sorts of shite problems, then Rick mentioned the same thing. No wonder that I could only get 80 miles on a full tank of super unleaded before hitting reserve

The bin is looming!!!
