Oil level NC30

I have just done an oil and filter change on my Jap spec NC30. The manual says 2.5L for a filter change so thats what I put in it. That puts the level well up the dipstick screwed in or just above minimum with the dipstick just resting in the hole. Do I check the level with the dipstick screwed in or just resting in the hole?
Thanks, John

Check the oil level with the bike upright (not on the stand) with the dipstick resting in the filler hole.
You may need more than 2.5 litres to get it to the upper part of the dipstick.
Do not overfill.

Just resting, dont screw it in. Get a haynes manual or do a search on here as someone must have put a link up for a PDF haynes manual somewhere

Thanks all for the info. Tried a search here for the info but no luck, probably chose the wrong parameters.
I have also looked for an owners handbook in english (not the workshop manual) but no luck either. Any ideas?

Should be with the stick resting as said... bike upright.
There was probably some oil left in the engine when you added the new oil which has casued it to be slightly overfilled. You may need to drain a bit of oil out of the bike.
