Has anyone bought any of these gasket kits...

Reasonably cheap but i was wondering if the quality is up to much or is it the classic case of you get what you pay for. Big saving on the Yamaha kit but it would be a pain in the hole if the head gasket failed due to crap materials.

I've used them on my FZR600 engine and a mates FZR1000 engine. Both bikes are used properly as road bikes but no track/racing use and both have held up really well. Only two problems being that the valve seals in the FZR1000 kit didn't have the right size, didn't seal the valve. So we installed OEM Yamaha ones. And with the 600 kit the starterclutch covergasket started to leak for no reason.
But no trouble with base or head gaskets failing. Rebuilt the engines and retorqued the heads on both after 1500k's. All's good.

The only reason I was thinking about using the cheap gasket kit is that I didn't want to spend a lot of money on the 400 engine that i was going to build out of 2 non runners and find out that the donor bottom end is shagged too, and i can't be bothered/don't have time for a full rebuild.
The price of a genuine Yamaha kit will probably buy me a running 600 motor.
I am still not sure what i am going to use the bike for yet, if I am going to track it I will have to go with the 600 or genuine gaskets in the 400, hoping I might get away with cheap gaskets for the road.
I probably would be better stripping both engines before I spend money on any gasket kit.

why not just use a genuine head gasket - the others don't take so much pressure
