NC30 / VTR1000 FORKS

I was speaking to a mate last night about my bike & how im about to rebuild the forks.

He tells me, that on his old NC30, he got a pair of VTR1000 firestorm forks, stripped them, used the lower legs & some other bits & pieces, then put the standard NC30 uppers & an uprated spring kit in them. He also used the standard VTR calipers for ease.
He claims he got massive improvement in the front end!

Has anyone else done this conversion???

Seems alot of work & hastle to keep standard type forks???

i cant really see the where the improvement is, as if i put progressive springs in the NC30 forks, i should get the same results???
Ive already got SP1 calipers & a FIBEBLADE m/c so i know there will be no problem with the brakes.

Is it worth me changing my plans - i personally think not!

Sounds like a lot of hassle for nothing if you ask me, im sure if you spent the money on setting up the NC forks you'd get a just as good if not better setup than the VTR forks. My mate has a VTR 1000 and the suspension is shite, its in no doubt in need of a refresh but its like riding a wobbly jelly.

All it is would be a swap of the lowers... What is the point unless yours are knackered and you got the VTR ones for very very cheap.

but they are a 41mm leg so you can use the nc30 tubes so there is no poke through and the benefit is you can swap the stock VTR claipers ( same as RVF) to SP2 calipers for extra bite, never seen this done but would like to see someone put the theory into practise.

but you'll need the vtr front mud guard to,so what you save on not needing caliper brackets to mount SP calipers you'll spend getting the vtr legs and mud guard.
