rvf runnig problems after spill. HELP!

First of all id like to say hello as this is my first proper post of the site, although i have been lurking for a while now.

I brought a lovely clean rvf about 3 months ago and proceeded to have a relatively slow low side on a ride out. mostly fairing damage and incrediby avoided touching anything metal like frame, engine or forks.

anyway the problem, after the spill the bike wouldnt start on the button but it did bump start and smoked so i cautiously rode it home, since the spill i have serviced the bike with all the recommended parts but the bike is having real runnig issues. it does try and start and sounds like everything is working ok but just doesnt fire up. but it does bump start with some delicate throttle control and when it runs it require constant throttle adjusting to keep it alive, also when revving the bike to about 5k at seriously struggles to rise through the revs?

Please bare in mind that i have done alot of searching on the site and im still at a loss about what it could be. the obvious answer is that i have knocked something in the spill? but what???

any help would be greatly appreciated as im in the final stages f getting the bike back on the road.

thanks alot

Difficult for me to say without seeing it.. However, tt might be worth having a look in the carbs.. if there was any crap in the bottom of the float bowls, knocking them over would certianly upset this and that crap would end up clogging up the jets, making it run / start terrible.

hey thanks for the reply, i was hoping not to have to faff about with the carbs but its looking like it could be something shaken up in there. is there anyhrtng else it could be? also if i do strip and clean the carbs should i set the main jets to 2.25 turns out to match my scorpion can?

thanks again

Might be worth checking your battery terminals and that no positive connections are touching the frame.

Happened to someone I know.

it may be possible that some oil has passed the rings and bent a valve, I'v not had a lot of time on the V4 mind and I don't know how prone they are to this, you say it was smoking did you notice if it smelt like it was burning oil ?
clean carbs and plugs frist,if no joy I would then do a compression test

the carbs should not be a prob, have a look at big chease's carb bal entry in workshop for some tips, remember to keep every thing clean, i like to do one at a time and i tape them up when working on the next and so on,so as not to get any sh1t in there, (mind you don't drop anything in to the in lets, I found a carb bolt in mine left by former owner!! )
good luck
