NC30 steering dampers

Yep, I know there are mixed feelings about whether the NC30 needs one but I like them so there
With that in mind, have seen pics with them fitted so the rose joint end is mounted on the frame and the shaft end is in the cockpit. Is anyone running this setup with standard clocks? If so what stroke damper do you have?

I think mines like that, rose joint at the end attached to the frame and a bracket around the stancion that attaches to the body of the damper
does take a bit of positioning to get equal lock on both sides and not to poke the speedo

I have an Ohlins and I think its a 120 stroke - it is also mounted as per the pic below.
I've heard nasty things about fitting them the other way around - if you should fall/head on, off there is the chance the shaft can smash through your leathers into your leg
I only have one cosI tink it looks trick too

You'll need a 140mm stroke if you don't use any steering stoppers.
I don't think you can mount the damper the way that Smev has if you have standard clocks, that's probably why some peeps mount it the other way.
I can see value in a damper for (very) fast road road riding, but I got rid of them on 2 track bikes I've had. They're clumsy and get in the way...

Just checked on Rick O's stock list and he sells 140mm stroke ones with fitting kits for the NC's
I guess thats the length mine must be as I don't have any issues with it.

and yes standard clocks would probably get in the way.

Thank you. I have one RO's (Sprint) kits and yep it won't go on the other way

Works fine and misses my leg completely but hey I'd prefer t'other way round.
Would appreciate you checking the stroke though, ta.

im not sure what make mine is, it looks identical to a hrc one I have seen but could also be a sprint? one , yeh iv seen people injured by dampers before, mine fitted fine with the stock clocks just have to have it lower on the stancion.
Iv take it off my road bike to go on the race bike but id like another for the road bike cos it feels alot more stable with one on imo,
