NC30 Track Bike Build

Hi all, As You know im kinda new to the forum and been asking for advice from people on here etc which is much appreciated , Also bought a Few nice Items from forum members and met a few over the last few weeks which is good stuff.

Well Finally after I got off crutches back in September I been going on a mad one to get back on the track and try get some decent times on board to see where Im roughly at. So I thought to myself about building a track bike and umm and arr’d about it for couple of months until in November I just decided to do it which was good news I found a NC30 up near Scotland for cheap £550 all running etc just needing L/H/S panels all standard apart from Exhaust can do I picked up a bargain really I thought, got the bike delivered to my house for £50 which was even better :D
The day the bike come to my house I was made redundant so I just bought a bike which I couldn’t now really afford to keep going and build a track horse with, anyhow life went on left the bike sitting until Jan this year.


A friend of mine offered me his NC30 which had a few bits done to it for £650 so I done abit of work to get money saved for it and the week later I picked it up


With the original bike I was given a spare rear cowl set of head lights and stay and couple of other random parts which needed to be sold basically

My Friends bike Spec was like this

Ethos system with TYGA Maggot Can
RO Earthing kit
RO Front Fork kit with springs + Preload Knobs
Pre Load Knobs
SP1 Callipers and Converted Bracket
Programble CDI
Carb Mods already done : Drilled Sliders, + 0.5 Shims
Genuine Pannels with bike
Wavey Rear
14T Front Sprocket
New EBC Kelvar Clutch Plates
New Clutch Springs +1
Rear Jack up Plate
Steering Stem Plug
New Clutch Cable
Nice New DB Tinted Screen also
Braided lines Front

Spares :

Full set of FiberGlass panels
Discs
Couple of End cans
Random Brackets and other bits and bobs

Anyhow so Jan This year I decided as still no job about to get some cash together doing bits and bobs to make this track bike up. So firstly I decided to use The original Bike from Scotland as a spares bike and parts I didn’t want I will later sell on to people who needed them. So I stripped down the first bike to a rolling chassis, The day after I started stripping the Other bike down until bare rolling chassis

Plans For the Bike as Followed

Nitron Rear Shock
Cut down Sub frame
Race Wiring loom But with charging system
Strip Cams out of engine to remove Quietening Gears and check Clearances
Regressed Rear Hub Unit and bushes etc
Good clean up of the bike (Done)
Remove any unnecessary weight if possible
HRC Rep coolant overflow (Drinks bottle now)
Clean up of Carbs (Done)
BMC Lid and Ram air Kit (Bought Courtesy of PGM)
Fibreglass panel’s holes filled and turn cheap track fairings
Another New set of panels track use
17 inch Rear wheel For Drys
18 Inch Rear for wets (Rear Sprayed up and polished)
Pref want a nice set of Rear sets but I mad a jack up plate for standard for time being
Homemade Shark fin (Done)
Rear Sprocket which I’m undecided
Good service
Rejet Carbs to suit Ram air
Fuel Pump to Suit ram air (Ordered ZX4R Pump)
Tap mod (Done)
Modified or a alloy under tray made up
Cleaned out Rads + Remove Fan ( Done)

I would Like to say now a big thanks to all the helpful info from viper bike, spike16,Cam, PGM and others which have been giving me advice and ideas :)

hey dave bikes looking good, I wish I had the time to strip mine down to the state you have (engine out etc) and give it a good clean, good luck getting all you stuff sorted and ur mates bike was a bit of a bargain wasnt it

Okey after a bad start of the day i managed to get 30mins to myself to see what i was doing with the Camshafts

Hopefully tommorw wont be so bad and ill remove the Gear which isnt needed

Was thinking just to lathe the teeth off and then not having to take the gear assemberly apart but i spose you need the gear atuacly off ? Thanks

Nice! We got the lower end apart finally on mine last week and the entire motor's bagged up in bits.... now the fun part starts... spending massive amounts of money on it. :)

Update of the day, I Removed the Backlash Gears off all Cams, was going to do drive chain ones to crack also but after a little disscussion and finding out the hard way that you have to get them red hot and about 300ft lb torque to move the spacers from the gear itself was deffo not worth it so will not be doing them, anyhow i was just about to put engine back in when a guy i use to work with, (im using there workshop for bike build) said to me wait a tick get the heads off im gonna sort you out a few bits, anyhow later that day he asked me to bring heads over and we do the dir grinders out and lots of sanding paper out and we both started a head each (7pm) Porting the heads out and giving a quick clean out, didnt wanna do to much to them but just enough to get the flow to flow better as you would see the massive amounts of carbon build up where they just dont flow properly. so tommorw i will have to finished both heads off, then i belive another guy i worked with is taking them home to skin a fow off each head. So hopefully by Friday should be all back together turning over properly and ready to be fit back in the frame :) !
