Dipped beam not working

My NC30 has decided its used its dipped beam too long and no longer wants to bother. If I remember correctly, they both went at the same time. I assumed it was the bulbs so I went to main beam for a while cause I had a lot on and couldn't find the time in all the wet dark days to fix it. Then one of my main beam lights went so I got it fixed pronto.

Replaced the bulbs yesterday and checked the lights. Still no joy. I checked the old lights and the dipped beams were fine in those with only one broken connection which would be the main beam... which leads to it being a wiring problem right? And if its both my lights, it's got to be back from where the cable splits?

If anyones had this problem before and can give me some advice I'll be very greatful, I'm useless with electronics!

Ben

If you have been using non std bulbs - 55/60 rather than 35/60 you will likely have melted your left hand switchgear.

Get it whipped off and see if you can clean it up a bit.

You need to fit a relay to handle the extra load for the 55/60 bulbs...

It is a common failure point

The is of course assuming that your NC30 is a Japanese model.

If it's a UK model you'll already have a relay fitted to handle the UK bulbs. Since you mention they both went at the same time... if it is a UK spec bike, check the relay first.

Otherwise it'll be the switch 99% of the time as already said :)

Try taking the switch apart, look for the small white Hi/lo box, unclip it, carefully as theres a spring in there and check the small copper (half swastika shaped) wire is in correctly, it may have popped out of its holes and be lying down, so may be that simple as a similar thing happened to me, which was sorted that way.
