For all you peeps that have fitted a HRC style air tray what did you do with the wiring harness that sits where the tray goes as if its left it will surely upset the air flow. Also did you keep the rubber flap? I've removed this before to try and get better air flow but now know as many of you do this seriously messes up the running of the bike, so is this removed or left in place when fitting the air tray?

Remove the rubber/plastic flap and run the wiring under the tray. I might have a few photos in photobucket if I have a look for you I'll post them later.

As Viper says, get rid of the flap. The HRC airtray replaces the entire airbox including the airflap. As for the wiring, you can run it underneath the tray (semi-satisfactorily), but the airtrays were designed for the HRC loom, which doesn't travel across the frame cross-member. If it's for a race bike, I'd mod the loom - there's nothing needed on that side of the bike except for the front coil wiring which goes under the airtray.

I didnt know it replaces the entire airbox, so the complete standard air box is removed? what about a filter?
It was intened for my trackbike but ive now decided to go the ram air route with it so i thought id put it on my roadbike, not to sure i will if it means removing the airbox.

Keep the airbox mate, you wil be still cooling the carbs and getting colder air into the cavity beneath the tank.

Just to add as well, you might need steering stops as well as at full lock my stanchions were fouling the tray. Here's the Tyga stops that I have fitted,

i have the HRC tray fitted to my road bike (nc30) with just the front rubber flap off using a standard filter base and airbox lid and it's nothing more than a glorified heat shield keeping the heat of the motor away from the carbs,makes taking the carbs on and off a pain in the hole but since i have it i'll keep using it
