is fibreglass resin a good way to repair cracked fairings? i have small crack on the r/h tail piece on my bike and was wondering if i spread the resi over it then sanded it back would it give a good effect?

Only if it's a fibreglass panel. If it's a plastic panel then it won't work.

Not sure what plastex is but it sounds like it's for use with plastic lol.

Could have it plastic welded.....

Sounds funny and Im yet to try it, but at my girlfriends hair, nails and beauty salon they mix this powder with a solvent to craft artificial finger nails which they call 'acrylics' Im almost sure its the same stuff as what those plastex kits consist of but can't say for certain. If you know any women in the trade and can get hold of some, I'd be interest in the outcome. Unfortunately I wont get a chance to play with the stuff till the summer. I think its about £4 for half a kilo of the powder and £4 or £5 for the solvent for those who are in the hair, nails and beauty trade. For under a tener its worth a go. I'm very keen to experiment with the stuff myself and when I do I'll write a review or something if its successful. Anyway if you get the chance or time to look into/research it its just an idea.

Ive just got a plastex kit and it looks like the same stuff we used when i worked at a printers. It was used for making the counter for embossing.

ive been trying to find it in printing supplies etc but no luck so far.

very similar to whats used in the plastic window buiseness to.

Q bond is stuff to use now can be used on plastics,fiberglass and metals comes with black and grey filler powders and is great for building up lugs if done a layer at a time. I wouldnt be without it now.
