Another question regarding the loom....as I will be using the bike just on the track what don't I have to worry about being connected? There are things missing already such as lights, indicators, brake light switches, speedo with oil and neutral lights, clutch switch...thats about it as far as I can see....got another clock set coming with speedo on which I am gonna connect....I just need to know what I can run without to save me getting wires and switches I don't need.

How far do you want to go?

If you run a total loss ignition system and use an external starter then all you actually need to make the bike run is battery, CDI, TPS, coils, fuel pump, and a switch to give it all 12 volts.

You'll need to charge the battery between sessions, but you can dump the whole stator assembly, fit a lightweight alloy flywheel to get the crankshaft mass down, ditch the reg/rec, and a good few metres of loom.

Having said that - you'll definitely want to keep the temp gauge and sender, neutral switch and light, and oil pressure switch and light.

Everything else is optional, but will make your life easier if you keep the starter motor and relay, and sidestand plus associated wiring. It depends if the weight saving is worth the hassle.

Don't want to go as far as total loss as it's just for track days, and if I ever come to sell it the new owner would be able to put it back on the road without to much hassle. Thanks for the reply though.

Just unplug the loom from the road gear then (and get rid of the road gear).

Any more and it will be a headache if you/someone else want to return it to the road.
