Does anyone know if the crankcase needs to be spilt to change this oil seal?? Its the one at the front sprocket.

If I remember correctly VFRman had to split his cases to replace that seal. Steve doesn't come around that often no more, but if you contact someone like Rick Oliver he'll steer you right.

Cheers Viper. I had a feeling it would have to be split. Theres a small lip on the inside of the seal that looks like it slots into the casing. Ill email him now.
Thanks!

It is awkward as the bolt is a pain tom get to also!!! I have heard of people using a couple of self tapping screws to remove and the replace using a socket and plenty of grease. Make sure you put something around the shaft or the ring inside the seal may pop out!!!

You can split the cases without removing the rear head - you`ll just need a slim open ended spanner to get to that one bolt and when you tighten the same bolt you`ll have to rely on the `right arm torque wrench` as you can`t get a socket onto it.
Works fine, though - I`ve changed a couple of gearboxes that way...
