hi,
cbr 400 nc23
In the process of a gearbox rebuild after a spill at anglesey which damaged gear selector drum, thats all sorted now but in the process i rotated the crank and it popped up out of the casings and put the timing out of sync. I have obtained tdc buy putting a dowel down plug hole, as the rotor is not fitted as its total loss. Have re set cam shaft positions via the manual having ex facing mating face of rocker/ barrel and inl facing inlet mating face, i have checked valve clearances and some are out .
cylinder 1: inlet. 0.10&0.05 ex: 0.15&0.15
2: inlet. 0.10&0.15 ex: 0.15&0.15
3: inlet. 0.15&0.15 ex: 0.15&0.15
4: inlet. 0.15&0.15 ex: 0.15&0.15
the recommended Is inlet 0.12 to 0.18 and exhaust 0.17 to 0.23 according to haynes
am i right in thinking best gaps would be 0.15 for inlet and 0.20 for exhaust ? this is my first attempt at re shimming valves so any advice greatly appreciated also this is for a race bike so is there an optimium clearence i should stick to. for an nc23
cheers rigs
