hello i havent been on a ride in the night in a while but last night did and realized i have no dipped beam only high beam and my day time running lights. how would i test this. i have a multi metre thing could this bee the bulbs? but both.

prob going to be your left hand switch gear melted as the bulbs you use are incorrect wattage...get it stripped and checked and see what your bulbs are too.

35/65 is OK 55/65 is melting time...

60/55 it says

am i going to need to replace anything?

i have just checked with the multi meter and i get a 12v reading only when high beam engaged

Becuase the switch has melted. The Japanese NC30 uses Japanese spec bulbs (no brainer there) these have a lower wattage than the UK standard of H4 (30w instead of 55w)

This extra 50w drawn by the two bulbs tends to melt the switch over time. The UK model solved this problem by adding a relay to drive the low beam (the NC30 already uses one for the main beam)

Theres a full write up there of how to install an extra-relay so that you won't fry your switchgear again.. You may be able to take it apart and shave off some melted plastic to get it working again. But please install a relay first or you'll only end up back in the same situ....

I have the same problem with mine at the moment, i took the switch gear off an a friend gave it a good going over which worked ............... for a while and then no dipped beam cry: . Switch gear is cheap enough to pick up from here or evil bay an its only a couple of screws an spade connectors if i remember .

Yes its cheap but unless you do the relay mod or swap to the original bulbs it'll keep melting the switchgear.
