Hi guys, just brought a pretty low mileage '91' NC30 off my boss
ts absolutley immaculate other than the fact its been stood for 12 months!

so i stocked up on the essentials to bring her back to life (battery, plugs, filters, oil change, fresh fuel etc),fitted evrything to the letter of the haynes!

saturday she started after a few attepmts, wouldnt idle but aslong as you stayed on revs it ran. so i put it on some paddocks and slowly, gingerly went through the gears, all ok but again when off the revs would cut out. so i gave up for the evening,(the mrs made me!)

sunday morning crack of dawn im in the garage again thinking with a good few hours, maybe a battery charge it will run again. HOW WRONG WAS I!!!

this time she was having none of it, after many attempts, carefull to not flood it, it justed wouldnt start. its still going to tick over it just doesnt fire up so im pretty sure the batterys fine it just doesnt seem to want to run...poor girl

now before i put it in a garage and somebody either ruins it or rips me off i just though id tap you guys up for some know how,as the name states nc30 newbee!!!(p.s im absoluteley in love with this bike as iv always wanted one, i havent just joined here to get the bike going and then disappear!!) ...

so any pointers are appreciated peeps, and if anyone wants to have a go at it themselves im in guildford!!!

P.S could anybody give me a ballpark on what i can expect to pay to get a complete carb overhaul??

cheers people

maybe the carbs/idle speed need to be adjusted? Have you tried to see if it continues to run with a bit of choke?

If it has been stood a year you are going to have to get the Haynes out again and get the carbs off and clean them out. They'll be full of gummed up fuel...

Once you have done that, the job should be a good un.

No throttle, full choke, press the button and admire the V4...

yeah i'll go with the fact it didn't have the carbs drained and now there full of gummy varnish. (thanks to all the shite they put in petrol)

Anyway.. Benziene conspiracys aside..

Get the carbs off and clean them all out, full choke no throttle till its running.

If you overhaul the carbs they'll be dry, so after about 5 or 6 cranks let the bike sit for 3-4 minutes to allow fuel to flow down into them as they have a vacucmn operatred fuel tap.

It's not hard to do and you should learn how to do it if your plannin on keepin the bike :-)
