Welcome!!

Might be a silly question, but are you starting it the correct way???

The usual (read: easy) way to start from cold is FULL choke, NO throttle. It should eventually fire up after a bit of cranking. Don't be tempteed to give it any throttle, it can/will flood the engine (and foul very expensive spark plugs!) otherwise.

When started warm you won't need to use the choke.

Try this for starters until you get to know your gal!

Stick around and you'll probably pick up a handful of helpful hints!! 8-)

Interesting one.. If it isn't down to technique, maybe theres some kind of electrical / charging problem seeing as it starts off the push?

thanks for replying so fast guys

i have had my bike for a year already and it always started first time, it has only been playing up after i took it in for the valve clearance

do you with it could be an earth problem, is there only 1 earth wire coming off the battery going onto the frame of the bike

There is only 1 earth from the battery to the frame on most vehicles (cars included)

It could be one of the smaller earths.

Speculations:

Valve clearances adjusted incorrectly
Trapped choke / throttle cables
Disturbed / Damaged electrical connection
Faulty charging system

Theres probably something else i've missed, i'll let somebody else reply :)

don't fiddle with it,just take it back to the people who serviced it and tell them your not happy.
