Unfortunately for me, NC30 support in Australia is pretty poor, due to it never having been officially sold here, and the 400 class falling in between 'little bike' and 'big bike' camps here and having a very limited following.

I'm chasing up some front brake pads atm, and possibly rotors. I can't find NC30 parts through any of the local suppliers, but is there another model's parts I can order, in the way that brake/clutch levers match the CBR600F?

While on the topic of rotors... I don't suppose the NC30 and NC35 use the same rotors (an NC35 front end swap would be a long term goal, as I've got an '89 with damping rods ( ))? I'm guessing no, as they use different calipers...

Hey mate, yes nc35 brake rotors are the same as nc30. They're also the same as early cbr900 and a heap more models probably.

Brake pads are found easily they use the same front pads as mc18/21 nsr250's.

The early model forks can still be made to handle very well with some aftermarket parts.

Re the forks, I probably do need to get the suspension looked after first. Front and rear are horrendously soft. I just kinda like the idea of NC35 forks, already being set up for cartridges, access to better calipers, and USD blinginess (especially if bringing the current ones up to a high standard is going to put me out $$ anyway). Is there a guide somewhere on what can be done with '89 forks?

Brake discs are _not_ the same but are identical fitment...

NC30 has more (smaller) drilled holes, NC35 has less larger holes.

Yeah soft suspension is very common on some of the imports, they probably gave their best decades ago! If you jack up the rear of the nc30 it can help in the meantime as it raises the spring rate.

I hear ya on the rvf forks for the bling factor, although you can get adapter plates from Rick Oliver for the nc30 forks (early and late model - caliper fitment is the same) to fit 2003-4 CBR600rr or SP1/2 brake calipers. I just fit some SP1 calipers, only because it was cheaper than rebuilding a set of nc30 calipers!

Hmm.. this shouldn't really have an effect on braking performance should it? Different cooling rates?

Also worth considering. I think for the time being I should just sort out the current forks to an acceptable level. Shouldn't get too far ahead of myself.
