Hi guys,

I've just had my NC30 dynoed and the results were very disappointing. It's only producing 50.3 BHP and is running as rich as hell throughout the rev range(11.0-12.0A/F).
The dyno operator said that it was my end can causing the problem, creating too much back pressure because of a type of db killer welded into the exit spout. It's a 1/2 system and he reckoned if this could be removed from the end cap, my problem might be solved.
I just wondered how you guys would approach this and is this actually the problem?
PS the db killer is welded into a circular plate in the end cap and reduces the actual spout orifice by about 2/3. Also, about mid way down the pipe, you can see some sort of large baffle??
Is it time to junk the pipe and look for a different slip-on?

how about the dyno operator change the jetting to suit your system.. sounds an arse about face way of tuning the setuip.

So, if it was too lean, would he want you to baffle the can and put some oil on the filter?

if it does I've recently taken my can apart and its a very restrictive 3 chamber design
and you'll need to completely re-core the can in order to make it like most of the other sports cans.
also if you are taking the can apart you have to remove all the rivets and slide the entire sleeve off
as the two end caps are connected by the three chambers.

a dyno operator gave me the same advice hence the reason I opened the can

Thanks razer, mine's identical. The dyno operator said to just remove the end cap & have the restrictor / db killer cut out & then replace the cap & all should be well.
Is he over simplifying the job? What does re-coring involve? Are you saying the end cap won't come off on its own?

the end cap won't come off on its own you need to slide the entire carbon sleeve off after drilling all the rivets.

in order to re-core the can you need a new perforated stainless steel tube to run the length of the can and you'll need some fibreglass matting to pack the can with.

this will make your bike run leaner and a lot louder
but if your bike is running really rich then it still might need re jetting after doing this.

I am doing it because I want my bike to be a bit louder and have a few more bhp at the top end.

Don't junk this ethos system! Still very well useable. As already been advised...you can get the db killer out. I have the full ethos system and also an ethos 1/2 system, and both uses ethos cans without db killers (full straight look inside the can, it is loud). Did not know about ethos cans with db killer build-inside until now (after checking the pics of razer667).

What diameter perforated tube is used & what holds it in place apart from the packing?
Any idea if other slipon cans fit the Ethos link pipe, should I be forced that route?

I have Superpole exhaust cans (custom build, road legal) with the correct slipon size to fit my TSR tit.dual pipes. And they still have my data to build me a slipon can to fit on the Ethos link pipe. Superpole cans are made in Holland.

I don't speak dutch but i like what they do. however, I've spoken to a local engineering co. and they will make up a collar for the link pipe (approx 0.5") to fit the Tyga if I go that way.
I still don't know what diameter the perforated tube needs to be, or how its held in place should I decide to modify the Ethos?

the diameter of the pipe you need should be a few mill bigger than the outlet diameter.
I forgot to measure mine when I took it apart so I cant give you an exact size.
