Hi,
Been out on my bike twice today and both times i had trouble from 2nd to 3rd gear!! attempted to change 2-3 times on three different occasions but It just wouldnt go into third. it felt like it was in top gear and just wouldnt select. It eventually did after i slowed down and changed down then up again. its not happening all the time .
Anybody any clues??

chain tension is the simplest solution.
have you adjusted the gear lever recently? like removed sprocket cover

Wonky footrests, bent gear shift tod, gear lever catching on the gear shift rod, chain tension, new boots?
Thats all the easy options that spring to mind....

i have had the chain and sprockets replaced last week by a garage, and i tightened the chain last week, ive checked the centre punch mark and the gear selector appaers to be in the correct position. i also have new boots but it definately isnt them!!

£1 says its your new boots, wait until they get worn in and the problem will go away... (i had the exact same problem a year or so back)

was the bike on a paddock stand or just on the side stand?

How does it feel changing gear when just rolling the bike? if you used your hand would it make a lovely snick into gear? or is is graunchy?
Can you put it to the linkage basically?
If all that is nice and sweet, not stiff, changes easily then look to the clutch being badly adjusted, technique or chain tension.
Should be an easy fix - does it change gear clutchless as well?

to be honest since i have had the bike with the chain loose and knackered and now tight and new ive found the gear change pretty crap!! really notchy and jerky. just put putting it in first stationary the bike jolts! i might loosen the chain a bit see how it is give it an oil change then look at the clutch adjustment!

If it is really jolting into first then the clutch might be dragging and so not disengaging when you pull it for your other changes...
