Clutch Question

Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me if the clutch is adjustable at all. The clutch is slipping but the bite point is way out in the last 10mm of lever travel and id rather have it towards the mid point of lever travel. Is there anyway of adjusting this or is it likely that the clutch is just well worn and likely to be on its way out?

There are two ways of adjusting the clutch. The one that makes real difference is the adjuster nearest the engine. Take off the LHS lower and follow the clutch cable back to the engine.

On the way there will be a bracket bolted to the engine and two nuts. By loosening or slackening the nut either end (make sure you tighten them when you are done) you can change the bite point.

Experiment a little to find the bite you are looking for.

Good luck!

Perfect, I'll give that a go tonight. Is it ok to have some tension on the cable even when the lever is fully released?

Growler, there should be some tension in the cable but not too much or you may over stretch or start fraying the cable.

Does the clutch slip at all when you riding it? If it does then it may be a worn clutch and that is why the biting point is so far out.

It sounds like it might be a worn clutch.

As said, two adjustments, one on the handle, one near the engine.

You want to put some slack in the cable so it pulls the clutch in when the lever is pulled in more so your biting point is lower.

I think your supposed to have 10mm slack anyway
