hI, IVE JUST STRIPPED DOWN MY BIKE TO PUT A NEW MANIFOLD AND REAR CAN ON IT, HOW THE BLOODY HELL DO YOU UNDO THOSE 3 BOLTS ON THE MANIFOLD?? IS THERE A KANCK OR DO YOU HAVE TO TO TAKE THE REAR WHEEL OFF??

Yes, get the wheel off anf if you have an Abba stand then it should be easier, there's no special way to do it.

Guessing you're talking about the 3 bolts that connect the main exhaust system to the manifold?

If so it's possible to do with the rear wheel on, but it's a hell of a lot easier with it off, I use the longest extension on the wrench that I can get along with a CV-joint type thing to get to the bolts 'nicely'

Oh, also a lot easier to take the footpeg assembly off on that side as well...

The real fun comes when trying to remove the rear manifold from the engine with it in place ¬_¬ :p

Make sure you soak the nuts/threads in WD40 before you try it.

thanks, managed to do it with the wheel on but what a pig!! somebody obviously bodged it last time as one of the nuts was 11mm as opposed to 13mm and was totaly rounded off!! Only one slight problem though i managed to drop an 11mm socket in the swinging arm hole next to the spring!! OOOPPSS it wont do any damage will it???

you'll want to get that socket out anyways won't you? Why would you leave it?

i cant get it out i have tried for the last hour. and to be honest im not mechaincally good enough to strip it all down!! I bought a second hand yamamoto half system from a chap on here. i had it polished up looks good just need to fit it now!!

try to reach the socket with something magnetic.
swingarms aluminium so wont stick to magnet mate
