Drilling Slide Advice / Pilot Screw Query.

I'm working on a set of NC24 carbs at the moment, as people who are familiar are aware the slides are the same ones used in the NC30 HRC set-up.

They have a curved bottom and have 2 holes instead of 1. (they are also fitted with 8ZC's as opposed to HRC items obviously..)

Anyway, I was wondering if enlarging these holes slightly would improve throttle response, since there are already 2, or is it likely to break something.

-Edit-

Can anyone confirm that the pilot screws go... [Screw] - [Spring] - [Washer] - [Grommet] as I don't have any service books here at the moment and thats how I always put them together, however the screws in these carbs go [Screw]-[Grommet]-[Spring]-[Washer]

I'd not recommend it as there's already the 2 holes there. I doubt it'll improve the trhottle response much more than you already have.

Thanks for confirming that. It's how I assembled them anyway.. two of them were backwards (mind you I'd had a lot of beer and it was late the other week when we were assembling them)

Can't tell if the washers have made a difference yet as I broke a wire on Coil #1 and my repair must be suspect as it's intermits between 4 and 3 cylinders giving you a jerky ride (as I found out half way down my fave country lane)

Back to the drawing board tomorrow :)

Does anyone know which NC24 carb slides have the curved bottom mentioned above as there are two different part numbers according to microfiche:

16111-ML0-724 & 16111-ML-0004

cheers

I`ve managed to get my hands on some NC30 carbs which have HRC slides and springs in them.

I have access to the services of a very good spring manufacturer so it would be no problem to get the springs replicated but is there enough interest to justify the investment?

Provisional price would be around £22 for a set of 4 - if anybody would be interested please drop a note on here so I can gauge potential demand.

See elsewhere on this forum section for a similar question concerning clutch springs...
