i have used semi synthetic 10w/40 in all my yams as the expensive fully synthetic can sometimes be a bit too good for these aging yam clutches and cause clutch slip-just change it every 3000 miles or so as they get thrashed hard cos they dont make much power and you have to make alot of use of the clutch and gearbox which wears out the oil.i pay about 17 quid for 4 litres of shell advance 10w/40 so it doesnt break the bank and make sure you change the filter every other oil change.doesnt matter which brand just as long as its bike specific.ps-welcome to the forum!!

Yup - 10-40 semi synth.
As said there's no preferred brand just change it regular and check the level.
