Looking at trying different front pads for the NC29 I've just picked up, and reckon there might be an opinion or two around here :)

I've not done the race or track bike thing before, prior to this I had a K8 GSX-R 1000 in road trim, and K4 before that. My new little toy is, I'm told, a pretty quick NC29, HRC CDI, HRC exhaust, flat slides, etc.

I have always like a pad that bites hard initially, and I tend to break relatively late and heavily, so any suggestions welcomed.

I've use lots of other branded pads, but these leave the others for dead in my opinion. They cost roughly double what other 'race compound' pads cost, but I can assure they last nearly (or more) than double the life in my use. I've used EBC HH and other comparable pads, these are the best I've used.

The PFC pads have excellent progressive power (probably because of the carbon component?). Initial bite is hard to judge for me as I tend to be pretty smooth on hitting the brakes.

Rest assured, they're more than up for the job. The correct bedding in procedure is more important with these than with regular sintered or organic pads, you get all the info with them.

I prefer Carbon Lorraine or SBS. Have just fitted SBS to my race R6.
I seem to have trouble sourcing Carbon Lorraine pads so have always grabbed them if they are spotted. I bought the SBS street rather than race as the race pads have a much harder inititial bite. Not good when cranked over and only able to use a knackered right hand.
Have always used the street versions. Apparantly the SBS last longer too but never had any probs with CL over days use on tracks.
EBC. Cheaper and more readily available. Cant complain as use these too when I cant get hold of the above. Not quite as much feel as above but They do the job and it is only fractions different
Have tried other pads too and not really been impressed.
Shoved Armstrong HH into my ZX6R which is a road bike and have top say, am very impressed. What they last like and what they would be like on track over time I dont know, but my mate uses them on his bikes, R6 and VFR400's without complaint

Off to Broadford on Sunday (although weather looks to be getting ugly), and was there last Friday for my first go on it. Be looking at doing some race practice days starting next month (budget for September is done already!).

Wasn't sure how it would feel after the K8 Gixxer, but I loved it around Broadford, loads of fun. Sure it'll be even more fun when I learn to carry speed into the corners. Keen to get it to the Island sometime, too. Reckon that would be interesting...

Think my "local" dealer (Peter Stevens in Elizabeth Street) carries them. How are the SBS pads on the R6 at the track?
