hey guys,
on the weekend I done an endurance race and during a 40 min stint my brakes were getting pretty bad, i have noticed this in my usual races, but there only like 15-20 mins so it doesnt get to bad,,,, although there were pretty bad and quite scary.

now i have rebuilt the whole system recently including calipers, master cylinder and braided lines are about 1yr old, fluid changed every 2 trackdays/races with good quality fluid.

just wondering if theres anything i can try to get them to last a little bit longer without fading as bad?

I would love to upgrade but i want to comply with the Aussie stock class 400 rules so i have to remain with stock setup apart from braided lines.

I was thinking of removing the dust/inspection cover to allow them to cool better, but yer want to hear your thoughts on this :) :)

I've removed the dust covers to help cooling.

Obvious question: What pads are you using? Pad choice is free in all classes IIRC.

I use Performance Friction carbon pads and haven't got a bad word to say (tried many others). The bedding in procedure is critical with these more so than organic or sintered compounds. http://www.performancefriction.com/pages/cycles.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Edit: Give Ian a call regardless, lots of knowledge and will point you in the right direction regardless of a sale or not.

Edit 2: Dot 5+ brake fluid will provide a higher boiling point (at the expense of needing to be changed a lot more often), but I suspect your pads are the culprit here.

cheers for that mate, i am currntly running some race compound pads i got off my tyre supplier, they are the only pads i have tried on this bike.
