I am hoping someone may be able to throw some light on our problem.We are racing a 3TJ in the Manxgp and found a problem selecting fourth gear both up and down the gears on the first practice lap.Thinking it was to do with the gearshift we altered it and went out again this evening.Unfortunately it was far worse!Away from the line got into second,the clutch slipped slightly then difficult to engage 3rd followed by more difficulty selecting fourth.Not wanting to cause any damage i pulled up after a couple of miles with no improvement although there was no further clutch slip.The motor is currently being stripped,is there anything specific we should look for.there doesn't appear to be wear on the selector forks,when the selector shaft was removed(the one which the gear lever attatches to)there was no shim between the selector mechanism and the engine case,is this correct?Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Also do you know the torque settings for the engine bolts and any other torwue settings which would be relevant.

Check the manual downloads in the General section and also the parts book - the exploded views can be a lot of help too.

I'd look for a bent selector fork .... they have to be dead on straight.
Rough the steel plates up in the clutch (you've probably just done this).

Some fully synth oil can cause slippage too.
