Legal restrictor kits

Hey all.
I haven't been on here for ages as I bought myself a vfr800 a while back. My superfour is being kept in the family though - my brother is buying it off me (very cheaply, incase he's reading this).
Anyway, my question is this: when I bought the bike it was restricted. I rode it for several years like that and, just before I bought my new bike, I got the washers taken out to see if it made much difference (I didn't really think it did!). Now that my brother is looking to buy it off me, I needed to get the washers put back in as he's just recently passed his test. I took it to a local guy who took a look at the kit that had come out of it and told me that this was not a legal kit and my brother may as well ride it without the kit as with this set fitted for all the legal difference it makes.
Now, I bought this bike from a (I thought) reputable company (Motorcycle World in Ballymena for anyone who knows it) and got all the paperwork - dyno printout and a confirmation that the kit was fitted, signed by the engineer who did it (but no paperwork for it having been removed).
Therefore, should my brother buy the correct kit and get it fitted by an authorised person, or fit the old kit himself since he has all the paperwork?

Sorry for the lengthy post. Any advice gratefully received.

PS I might have a hugger and/or bellypan for sale (from the original order way back when) if he decides he doesn't want them...

Have sent you a pm re: sale stuff ! :D

As far as Im aware and have read as long as the bike doesn't make more than 33bhp you can have washers from b&q.

Some insurance companies ask for proof, my GF's have not so we just need to get the dims for the washers and get them made and ill fit them. Cost about £30 !! Bit cheaper than the £185 my local company wants to charge.

If they ask for proof you might be able to supply a dyno read read out :)

Hey Jim - thanks for the info.
I'll dig out those washers and measure them for you tonight.

Right then.
These washers are made out of 2mm thick mild steel and there are four of them...obviously.
They are really rough looking so I'll give dimensions for the most average looking one:

The outside diameter is about 36.5mm
The inside diameter (ie, the diameter of the hole) is 18mm. I'm assuming that this one is the important one as they all seem pretty uniform.

My brother is coming up to have a look at the hugger and belly pan at the start of next week probably so I'll get back to youse then as to whether either will be available.

Hi there i have a restrictor kit that you can buy off me if you like? its an f1 international kit, cost me extortionate amounts of money and annoyed me i had to pay to get it fitted by an authorised dealer when i could of done it my self, all for the sake of a certificate.

Anyway, rant over, as i said F1 international kit, just 4 washers although the holes are not round they are oval. If you want them you can have them for £40 including p and p

any questions give me a shout

Jim :D
