I'm referring to the metal side plate before the can. Mine is a bit scuffed, has anyone removed theirs? Pics and tips if so would be appreciated

if its not too badly damaged scratches will polish out with a polishing wheel n compound had good results with a system i'am refurbing at moment used a dremmel and stone to take deep marks out then polished it up using a mr fastner polishing kit on a drill. kit was about £22 from m&p time consuming but marks almost gone came up better than expected. or if its beyond repair cut it off at welds dremmel or file welds down then polish it up using the polishing wheel.

have attacked it with a hammer, file, sandpaper and autosol in that order! although it's not perfect am happy enough with the results to leave it on for now
