might be daft but why don't replace both cables? least they're both done and no need to worry about it then :)

Never understood why you need a cable to close the throttle. It's spring loaded so closes anyway.

So when the 'A' Cable breaks you can rig up the 'B' cable to open the throttle[1].

[1] Don't, unless it is a last resort, trust me on this. Your every throttle reaction is wrong.

I've never run a closing cable, and don't see the need.

It makes it easier to get the carbs off, and easier to find alternative throttles.

Safety issue:

If throttle cable breaks when fully open and the springs breaks, your stuck on full throttle. This might not be great running into a corner. The closed cable ensures that you are not relying on a spring to close the throttle and could save your bacon.

Me neither I run a propper 1/5th turn HRC single cable throttle on the RVF and a NSR 250 (giving 1/5th turn) on the CBR track bike.

Probably ok on a track bike with plenty of run-off and cat litter. One the road if the cable breaks it could be a different story.
