For new parts try Robinsons:
http://www.robinsonsfoundry.co.uk/suzuki/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Second hand parts, good old ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Suzuki-GSXR400-GS ... 286.c0.m14" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Welding it will be fine if its done somebody who can weld alloy to a good standard, take it to your local alloy/stainless eng shop and they will have no problems, if its oil infected you need to get it steam cleaned first.
