Will it have to go?

Well I've just done another track day at Silverstone with three mates and it was a really good day but I have finally realised that the bike is too small for me "or am I to big for the bike?" Anyway the 3TJ seems just too small to ride easily with sore knees, feet (size 11!) & shoulders along with toasted toe sliders etc. So unless I can make the bike much more comfortable I think I will have to sell it.
Tis a shame as I've owned it twice over 6 years, once to race and now as a track bike.
Anyone got a suggestion of what I could do?
Dobbs.

I smashed my knee years ago in a track accident which means I cannot bend my leg as much as I could before. I used to ride 250's and had to stop as I just could not ride.
I was having a few problems when I got the FZR, which is miles comfier than the 250 and thought I would have to give up and get someting roomier.
I ended up taking the vinyl of the seat, underneath it is some pre shaped foam which I also removed. I then bought some of the sticky back 1 inch thick foam that the race suppliers sell for seat pads.
Basically I cut that to shape and put it in between the existing seat and the existing foam raising the seat by 1 inch.
The difference is amazing, the leg room is greatly increased. It also puts more weight over the front end which I prefer.
Another I tried is swapping the rearsets round ie take your pegs off the triangular rearsets and put the rearsets on the other side. You will have to file a flat into the bit of the peg that goes into the rearset (you will see what I mean as soon as you look at it)
Only problem with this is that the pegs are now lower than they were before. I put race pegs on that were shorter and had no problems, the exhaust was the first thing to ground out.

I grafted DNM pegs ont my bike. They screw into a carrier which then fit's into the standard peg mount. You can incline them forward and they're fractionally shorter. They're wider which is a bit better than the standard peg. I like them as I have to lift the peg to get to the sidestand when I'm on the bike
They're ThunderCat model and need packing at the peg mount - I cut a penny washer and superglued it into place.

Those ideas might be worth a try but I also need to move the bars up & back a bit any ideas for doing that?

just an idea but if you use some early r6 forks i think you should be able to mount the clip ons above the yoke as the r6 fork legs are longer plus you could use the blue spot r6/r1 calipers and have fully adjustable forks(if you have an rr) -only downside is theres no take off for a speedo drive on the front wheel which is a pain on the road.it might cost a few quid but you could offset that by seeling your tj forks, caliper etc, like i said just an idea.

Nice idea, Speedo drive no prob as it's my race/track bike but don't want to swap the forks as it's an SP. Are there any clipon's that will fit under the yoke that are higher?

Try NK Racing they make top yokes and clip-ons. Or get some race clip ons and have the bar tubes bent upwards

I looked at this and above the yoke mounting of the clipons will cause them to foul the standard top fairing.
But the 1989 FZR1000R EXUP has the same fork centres and offset but is not stepped so can be used on the 3TJ to raise the clipons by 1". Some work with the grinder may be required and you still need longer forks.
