NC35 rvf400 timing advance

Hi all i have a nc 35 rvf 400. i have been told that if i advance my timing by 20 degrees it will make a hell of a difference. is this true and if so how is it done.

Certainly will -

It will run like a diesel and probably melt a couple of pistons in pretty short order.

(are you sure that it didn`t say 2 degrees...?)
