Indicator Problem

Was testing the lights etc.. before on my bike and I noticed that if my ignition or sidelights are on then my indicators work, but if I switch to main or full beam then my indicators flash about 3 times then stop then flash again one or twice then dont work altogether unless I switch back to side lights.
It it the same when the bike is running.

I have been told that its a nackered indicator relay, is this the case?

Thanks

'ow do
danham yours sounds like a bad earth? (i'm really no expert, could be due to a lack of mammary grease in the dolphin flange for all i know) but i'd check the wiring before the components.

fish is yours a '30? uk or jap spec? have you tested for voltage at both indie plugs?
i only ask 'cos my '24 is a yank import ( i think), the sidelights (were) permanently on and until i cut the (white striped) wire into the indie multi plugs i had all sorts of lighting problems.

not meaning to hijack the thread but my indicators switch turns right ok but doesn't seem to like turning left,
(I call it the Zoolander effect)

is it worth getting a replacement switch or could a spray of WD40 do some good in there?

you could try swapping the indicators (should be multiplugs inside the fairing) over, and see if one side plays up? would pinpoint the problem

This is a common problem on nc30's. Open it up, take it apart, clean out all the grease and crud and give it a good spray with electrical contact spray, working all the parts as you spray it. That'll fix it up.

There's a good chance a replacement one will be just as stuffed, easier to fix your own it's not a difficult job.

yah for stick shift!

WD40 with the nozzle jammed into the switch seems to have sorted it out :)

Nice one!

Just a heads up though, the problem will come back unless you wipe all the muck off the contacts inside, an easy 10 minute job to do properly!
