I know this has probably been covered a hundred times before, but here goes again. My current thought is that the NC30 isn't going to be hybernated this winter and that it will be ridden all year. My thought being get a cheap fibreglass fairing set and use that saving my nice honda plastics. Then being lucky enough to own spare front and back wheels, put some good wet weather/winter tyres on. Question being what recommendations on the tyres?

This is a serious answer from someone who rides all year. If your bike is nice do not even consider it, you will never get it nice again without a full strip and rebuild unless you are prepared to spend serious time preventing it and even then it's likely never to quite be the same again.

Right then, if you are still serious then:

If doing any speed seriously consider heated clothing and grips, being warm makes a huge difference.
Get touring type tyres, super sticky summer ones won't warm up enough.

Not gonna be massive amounts of mileage, so heated grips etc not really an issue. Have all the cold weather clothing you could wish for and all waterproof. Bike will be getting a good coating of anti corrosion spray and will be washed down regular. Main issue is the grip levels, run bt090's usually but they not the best on wet roads. As I said, got spare wheels, so can take the summer tyres off and replace them at will with something more wet road orientated

Heated clothing is *so* much better than just cold weather clothing. Depends on if you're going to go out no matter what or bail if it gets chilly. The main difference is that cold weather clothing slows down how fast you get cold, heated clothing means you are *warm*.

I must admit I thought pretty much the same as you before I got any but after trying some I couldn't go back.

Last Nov riding up the M6 with summer gloves on and an ambient temp of -2 (without windchill) was blooody cold! Not to mention chances of ice :/

My coldest was -5 at which point my fingers started to chill very slightly...

I think my next invention is heated levers cos they're the things that are cold first thing. :-)
