For those of you with the Ignitech CDI would you like to share your thoughts? I started the morning off with a run to the MoT centre with the standard CDI and M-Max box, then called over to a mates who was going to take my Ignitech CDI to try it out but didn't get round to it.

I'll hold back on what I think about it, but am interested to hear others thoughts. It's running the HRC map atm.

I have one running rick's latest nc30 map. As a whole i'm quite impressed with it, but I'm not sure I'm getting any more power than the standard CDI. Maybe this is down to the mapping being not quite there. As I run a race bike I like the shift light facility, and the higher rev limit.
I may have a go at setting up the quickshifter soon. Overall I think it's worth the cash just for these features.

I have been running one for a good while now. It works but as mavis says there is no more power ot be had.

The rev response fels sharper and it idles better too.. back to back it was 2bhp down on power against the std CDI.

I have turned the rev limit down as I want my motor to last a bit longer.

I have now put it on my race bike and I will be cranking the advance on with 99 octane fuel to see how it feels at my test day next week.

Mark, how are you connecting the CDI to your computer? The CDI is a 9 pin connector and my laptop and PC only have a 15 pin port which is for video out. Any idea what the cable is called to convert it to USB?

You can get various pin to usb cables from maplins. I used one a while back to connect a old PC3 to a usb laptop, took a while to get them to talk to each other but it worked

Yup, I'm using a el-cheapo £1.99 from hong kong ebay converter, without a problem.

my bike always felt a bit flat no matter what was done. running the HRC map on a UK spec bike with RVF carbs, back to back it felt much better, didnt bog as much and revved cleaner.

Paul, that's similar to my set-up, only difference is mine is a Jap bike (and we all know they are quicker )

My thoughts are somewhat clouded yet. Bike was MoT'd yesterday and taxed today. Went to the MoT on the standard CDI then fitted the Ignitech one afterwards. I didn't know what to expect really, but it seemed to rev better, 9k rpm seemed to pick-up more and the bike kept pulling, limiter seems higher and seems a bit more responsive down low. I'm gonna back-to-back them on the road and on the dyno (when I finally get the bike on it) and see what the difference is. At idle, the bike seems good, but I have also fitted the Rick O earthing kit so I don't know if its anything to do with this CDI. It also lifts the 180kph restriction

My bike setup is also using RVF carbs, ricks earthing kit and a modified map from a base setting.

It does pull better and is sharper. I use an RS232 to USB cable, stolen from my mate
